Breaking: Congress Issues Second Criminal Referral for UNM and Southwestern Women's Options

BREAKING:  SECOND CRIMINAL REFERRAL ISSUED BY CONGRESS FOR UNM HSC, SOUTHWESTERN WOMEN'S OPTIONS
NMAFL Provides Documents to Panel, Urges State Leaders to Act

Late yesterday, Congress has issued a  second criminal referral for the University of New Mexico (UNM) and Southwestern Women's Options (SWO) to New Mexico's Attorney General Hector Balderas for prosecution, New Mexico Alliance for Life (NMAFL) urges state and federal officials to act.  NM leaders copied in to the criminal referral: Governor Susana Martinez, Lt. Governor John Sanchez, Congressman Steve Pearce.

Yesterday's criminal referral is now the SECOND CRIMINAL REFERRAL this year by the House Select Panel on Infant Lives against both UNM and SWO, and again, used the results of information submitted by NMAFL. The Panel's referral evidences taxpayer-funded UNM Health Sciences Center and the nation's largest ate-term abortion business of violating multiple laws including federal statute and regulation but also NM statute; the Maternal, Fetal and Infant Experimentation Act, cited in a lawsuit filed by Jessica Duran earlier this month. (see more below).
"New Mexico leaders and Attorney General Hector Balderas can no longer ignore these serious, multiple violations of law and women's rights, cited by Congress--they must uphold their duty to hold both Southwestern Women's Options and the University of New Mexico accountable to the law," said NMAFL Executive Director Elisa Martinez. "As we have shown in our year-long investigation, women have suffered from this unethical and possible illegal partnership. We are grateful that Congress was able to use our work to hold the University of New Mexico, in collaboration with Southwestern Women's Options accountable to the taxpayers, but more must be done by our state leaders."

DEMAND ACTION: INCOMPETENCE AT HIGHEST LEVELS AT UNM HSC
WHERE IS ACCOUNTABILITY?

Picture
"This is an epidemic of incompetence at the highest levels at UNM Health Sciences Center," said NMAFL's Martinez. "It is no wonder UNM HSC leadership undertook extreme measures to hide information, and outright lie--not only to Congress and NM legislators, but to the public and taxpayers of New Mexico. These individuals at UNMHSC need to be held accountable, starting with Chancellor Paul Roth."

We will be launching a unified initiative to get NM leaders to hold UNM HSC and Southwestern accountable, stay tuned for details and MORE BIG NEWS COMING! NMAFL continues to bring results from the front lines of this battle and will continue to fight-- but we cannot continue without your help. Please, support our life- saving mission by making a secure online donation today or donate by mail to : 8400 Menaul Blvd NE, Suite 220, Albuquerque, NM 87110.

Contact NM leaders today and tell them you expect accountability:  UNM HSC and Southwestern Women's Options must be fully investigated and prosecuted.  Women and children of New Mexico deserve justice and protection from our leaders:  Attorney General Hector Balderas:  Toll Free 1-844-255-9210
Phone: (505) 490-4060,  Gov. Martinez:  505-476-2200, Lt. Gov. John Sanchez: 505-476-2257, Congressman Steve Pearce: (202) 225-2365.

Jessica Duran is the patient referenced in the panel's referral. Her lawsuit against SWO was filed in Second Judicial District Court, and includes 8 counts of wrongdoing and negligence. From not providing her a legally valid consent, according to the NM Maternal, Fetal and Infant Experimentation Act, to deceptive and unfair trade practices along with other violations of the law-- a life that would otherwise be here today, has been ended.  Sadly, we know there are more women out there, who's rights were violated by Southwestern Women's Options in their collaboration with UNM HSC.  We encourage women who had an abortion at Southwestern Women's Options to contact us at: abortioncomplaint.com, where we can put them in touch with someone to go over their legal rights.

"It is absolutely pathetic that the only person in New Mexico that is taking legal action to hold these people accountable is one of their victims, Jessica Duran," said Martinez. "Attorney General Balderas must act to protect these women and the countless other victims out there."
You can always donate to New Mexico Alliance for Life's work to stop the abortion industry's abuse of women and children in our state. Together, we've made incredible progress in 2016 and will continue to bring results and accountability, please consider an end of year gift to support NMAFL, donate today online or by mail.  Thank you to all our supporters across the state and country! From your friends at New Mexico Alliance for Life, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

BREAKING NEWS: Victim Files Lawsuit Against Southwestern Women's Options, Result of NMAFL Investigation

As promised, yesterday New Mexico Alliance for Life (NMAFL) announced our support for a lawsuit filed by Jessica Duran, against Southwestern Women's Options (SWO) late-term abortion business, as a result of our year long investigation.  The lawsuit was filed in Second Judicial District Court, and includes 8 counts of wrongdoing and negligence.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal, "At the time of my abortion, I had no support and I went to a place that was supposed to give me options and choices; a place where women's rights are supposedly respected."  Duran stated in an NMAFL press release, " I was deceived when I was in an emotional, vulnerable and desperate state. The very people who advertise they offer women 'the right to choose' at Southwestern Women's Options violated my right to choose."

"I think at that moment, had they informed me I would have snapped that this is a life inside of me, a valuable life," Duran said. "I think I would have, no, I know I would have walked right out of that clinic."

Martinez, Duran, Students for Life of America's Sadé Patterson and Surrendered Hearts Abortion Healing Recovery Ministry's Laura Rosecrans called for SWO to end its practice of harvesting baby body parts from unsuspecting women.
"By the reckless negligence of Southwestern Women's options doctors, in violating a women's right to informed consent in such a serious matter, a human life that would otherwise be here today has been ended," said Martinez. "Jessica and the countless women like her must live with this knowledge every day. To find out their baby's body was used for a research project - after the fact, without their consent, only serves to retraumatize many of these women."

NMAFL Launches New Website for Women Hurt By Southwestern Women's Options

NMAFL's investigation into SWO and UNM played a critical role in a congressional panel's recommendation that Attorney General Hector Balderas prosecute both organizations. In order to help more women come forward, NMAFL has also launched a new website:AbortionComplaintNM.com
NMAFL Executive Director, Elisa Martinez will also appear on Ed Morrissey's Hot Air, a national broadcast from his blog today at 3:00 p.m. The press conference can be seen in full here.   Other media outlets, including National Review, The Stream, KRQE,  Life News, The HUB and others have covered the story.
