TOMORROW, Jan. 26th: Hearing for Radical Abortion Bill, HB 51
Tomorrow radical House Bill 51 will be heard before the House Consumer & Public Affairs Committee at the NM House of Representatives TOMORROW, (January 26) at 8:30 AM on the House Floor. This radical bill aims to force doctors, hospitals and medical professionals across the state to perform abortions up to the day of birth or refer for them.
It is crucial that you plan to be at the Capitol tomorrow for this hearing and show you represent the MAJORITY of New Mexicans opposed to abortion up to birth! THAT'S RIGHT- WE ARE THE MAJORITY.
Yesterday, New Mexico Alliance for Life released a survey conducted from a random sample of 843 adult respondents across the state, showing that a vast majority of New Mexicans support a pro-life position, despite self-identifying as pro-choice. An overwhelming majority (69.8%) of respondents are opposed to abortion after the 5th month of pregnancy. OUR SURVEY SHOWS THE VAST MAJORITY OF NEW MEXICANS OPPOSE ABORTION UP TO BIRTH, 67% WANT PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN A MINOR'S ABORTION AND 72% SUPPORT HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS CONSCIENCE PROTECTIONS!.
Some things that the radical bill would do are: Force medical professionals morally opposed to abortion to perform or refer for them, and up to the date of birth! Not require parental consent before an abortion. Not require a licensed physician to perform abortions.
Each citizen will have two minutes to plead with the Committee to consider tabling this bill. The science and data is on our side, but the radical Left, including Planned Parenthood, radical DC-based organizations like Catholics for Choice, and other pro-abortion radicals will be there too with an army of pro-abortion troops. Its very important you stay on message and include 1-3 points from the FACT SHEET in your testimony. You may also add any points from our survey as well.
If you can make it up to the Capitol tomorrow to help stop this bill, together we can save precious lives from dangerous, unregulated, on-demand abortions through all 9 months of pregnancy.
In your two-minute segment, we encourage you to tie it to a point on the fact sheet, along with a quick personal story about how unregulating abortion has or would hurt you and your family. For example:
“House Bill 51 would hurt my family since I have a 15-year-old daughter, who is very independent. If she ended up in the circumstance where she was pregnant, she wouldn’t have to tell me she was getting an abortion. I would have absolutely no say. Like 67% of New Mexicans, support parental involvement in our daughter's abortion decision. Vote No on on HB 51, for the sake of our daughters' safety.”
“I work in the medical profession, and I urge you to vote against House Bill 51. The bill would force me and my colleagues to participate in an abortion-- or face sanctions or even lose our license. We cannot work in a hostile environment where we are forced to choose between our beliefs about protecting life, and our jobs. Like 72% of New Mexicans, I oppose this bill for forcing medical professionals to be involved in abortions."
“A very close friend of mine is pregnant, and well beyond her 5th month of pregnancy. I have read the statistics showing that the risk of death or serious injury after the 5th month of pregnancy increased 76.6%. If my friend could have an abortion right now, I am scared she could end up like many women in our state who have died because of the dangerous procedure. I urge you to not vote for this bill because it increases the risk of our families being torn apart.”
We hope to see YOU there tomorrow to stand up for life and protect women’s and children’s lives.
